As this season of Covid wears on, what seemed prudent and wise to our leadership in April or May no longer aids us as a church in nudging toward Christlike community in September. We remain as committed as ever to playing our part in combating the spread of Covid, but first and foremost we carry a burden for the spiritual and emotional health of our city and our church family. This is undoubtedly a complicated balance, but it’s one we attend to daily. We are all learning that gathering together, sharing communion, worship in song, and celebrating baptisms are just lost when attempted over a livestream. In truth, the vast majority of Disciples Church has not been on the Livestream much anyway.  To this end, we are ready to try another in person gathering in the park! We miss you, and we are hearing you loud and clear that you miss one another too!

Please make plans to join us in-person at John Kemp Community Park on Sunday, September 20th, at 10AM. We are so excited to see everyone and spend time in community! We will have a time of worship, a short message, share in communion and hold baptisms for anyone who is ready to take that step in their walk with Jesus.

If you would like to be baptized or would like more information about baptism, please email Pastor Stu at stu@disciples.church.

Social Distancing:

We will be following social distancing guidelines, so please bring your own chairs or blanket to sit on and make sure you have a mask or facial covering for situations where you are not able to maintain 6 feet of social distance.

For those more vulnerable we encourage you to arrive early and bring a pop up tent to remain underneath during the gathering; this will form a perfect environment for you to be in person and have confidence nobody will enter your tent area.

A note to parents of young children:

Look for Miss Ruth when you arrive. She will have a table with individually packaged snacks, as well as a coloring pack to help keep your kids entertained. Please note that the play structure will be open, and the water feature will (most likely) be turned on, so it might be a good idea to bring some towels!

No Live Stream:

We are taking this opportunity to give our tech and sound teams a much needed week off, which means that we will not have a live stream this Sunday. If you are not able to join us in person, please know that we will be thinking of you and missing you, and we will be back on Facebook and YouTube on September 27th.
