Welcome to Disciples Church!

Church is risky: a bunch of people we don’t know singing words most of us never use. It’s centered on a person we’ve never seen and rarely fully understand.

Enter Disciples Church.

Church During COVID-19

In recent days our practice of joining together in community on Sunday mornings has changed dramatically. If you’re new to Disciples Church, or new to the church experience entirely, we invite you to join us every Sunday morning at 10AM either in person or on Facebook Live for community connection, worship, prayer, and teaching.

If you choose to attend our in-person gathering, we ask that you carefully read the Health & Safety Protocols outlined below. We have implemented these protocols to honor our community and help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We also ask that you RSVP if you’re planning to attend, as we are limiting the gathering to 35 people to allow for appropriate social distancing. You can RSVP by clicking on the link below.

If you prefer to join us online, you do not need a Facebook account, you can just click the link below. If Facebook is not an option for you, we also stream on YouTube Live and that link is below as well. We encourage you to use Facebook Live if possible so that you are able to interact with all of us via the comments.

Health & Safety Protocols

Before you leave your house:

  • Confirm that no one in your household is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, or new loss of taste or smell.
  • Use the restroom. The restrooms in the building will be open, but please only use them if absolutely necessary (changing tables for infants are available in both restrooms).
  • Bring your own mask or facial covering and outdo one another with honor by wearing it while you’re in the building.
  • Please have your morning coffee/beverage before you arrive. We will not be providing coffee at this time.

While you are at Disciples Church:

  • Maintain 6’ social distancing. We know it’s difficult not to hug each other after so much time apart, but please practice social distancing.
  • Sit in households. This helps maintain social distancing and, according to the CDC, is a key measure to protecting yourself and others
  • Wear your mask or facial covering. The CDC recommends wearing masks to help protect others and slow the spread. Disposable masks will be available if you forget yours at home.
  • Practice safe hygiene. Wash your hands often for 20 seconds with soap and water. We will also have hand sanitizer stations available.
  • Go home if you have any symptoms. Or stay home. Even if it’s just an allergy cough, let’s outdo one another in showing honor.

After you leave:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds as soon as you get home.
  • Contact the church immediately if you experience any flulike symptoms and seek medical advice.

A note for “high risk” individuals:

California and the CDC recommend those who are in the highest risk groups, 65 or older or with underlying health issues, stay at home. This is the lowest risk option. We will continue offer our live stream via Facebook and YouTube live to serve our “high risk” family members.

Additional precautions we are taking:

  • Chairs will be set up to allow adequate social distancing between households.
  • All commonly touched surfaces will be disinfected prior to the morning service.
  • We will not be handing out any programs or providing coffee.

What to Expect

The community at Disciples is authentic, fun, and just a little irreverent.

We’re in the same parking lot as Century 14 in Folsom, across the street from the Folsom Premium Outlets. Once you park, our main door is directly under the giant Disciples Church sign on the building; you can’t miss it! You can expect to be greeted at the door and offered our weekly program.

You’ll find most of us chatting in the lobby, and that the dress is pretty informal; jeans and shirts for most. Our kid check kiosk is on the left after entering. Free coffee(!) can be found opposite the kid check kiosk.

During the service, you can expect loud, upbeat music, followed by 20-minute message that is fun, practical, and centered on Jesus. The 90-minute service usually ends with a couple more songs, after which you can pick up your kiddos or hang with us in the lobby. Or you can race out the door…you wouldn’t hurt our feelings.

Current Series

In the midst of this COVID crisis it is easy to see our lives as being in some sort of a holding pattern. After all, vacations have been postponed, schools closed, and forward progress has been halted in so many aspects of life. So it’s only natural that we might think similarly about our lives with God and the mission of the church. The thought could prevail, “Well, I guess I’ll check in with God and church online but really its all on hold until life returns to normal.”

Thankfully, this is not true at all. This is to be our finest hour as the people of God, called to be WITH and FOR the world. So how do we live in a way that is present and supportive of our spouses, friends, neighbors, and coworkers in this unique season?

Join us on Sunday for the next six weeks as we learn what it is to live Our Finest Hour.

Worship

Most Sundays we are led by one of our gifted worship leaders, Ellie Spinosi, Calvin Lamb, or our Worship Pastor, Jason Bluemel. Their music is generally a bit on the loud-side, passionate, and sincere. You can check out our Spotify playlist to hear some of the songs you might expect to hear, but in general we sing about God – not ourselves. We sing a lot about His love, His grace, his Glory. We are a a wide mix of people from a wide mix of traditions, so you’ll see some with their hands raised and some stiff as a board. We are low on production, but high on excellence. You will not find smoke machines or fancy lighting schemes – no judgment, it’s just not our thing. We are always introducing new music and have a prayer team on hand during worship for those who want to pray with someone or be prayed for by someone.

For Your Kids

DC Kids is a fun and interactive learning experience for your child. From newborn to elementary school, your kids will learn about Jesus and have a great time.

We use Planning Center Check-Ins for an efficient and safe check-in and check-out experience for you and your family. If it’s your first time with us, you may want to arrive a few minutes prior to the service. It just takes a moment to create an account, and we have volunteers waiting to assist you.
