Welcome to Disciples Church!

Church is risky: a bunch of people we don’t know singing words most of us never use. It’s centered on a person we’ve never seen and rarely fully understand.

Enter Disciples Church.

Church During COVID-19

Finding a church can be a daunting task, and it’s made even more complicated these days for a myriad of reasons. We have done our very best with every ounce of wisdom God’s given us to partner with county health officials in stopping the spread of Covid-19 over the last few years and continue to offer tools on site to help you stop the spread while keeping the priority of meeting together high. While you can certainly catch us online via YouTube and Facebook Live or on demand later in the week as your schedule allows, you’ll remain an anonymous individual — this is not God’s design at all. We challenge you to turn up in person and connect!

Our weekend gatherings are created first for those in the room, experiencing the presence of Christ and each other in as tangible of ways as we can imagine. Our band is gifted in leading us, and our preaching team of men and women work hard to explore the truths of God’s word with accuracy and inspiration. We hope you’ll find our other elements pivotal in your journey of becoming a person shaped into the image of Christ and living as a missionary in your context.

We often offer an open mic for sharing, communion more than once per month, and we sit somewhat “in the round” to help facilitate community on Sundays. We value testimonies, prayer for one another, and relational connection. You’ll even find people lingering long after service to talk while little kids run around the auditorium playing tag.

In Person Gathering Details:

Our gathering includes singing, preaching, prayer, and testimony. Our Nursery is open for children 8 weeks-3 years old and our 4 year – 5th grade kids join their parents in the Main Auditorium for worship and then are dismissed to the Elementary Classroom. Check out our Kids Page for more details.

Upon entry you’ll find coffee available and hand sanitizer stations and masks if you forgot yours and prefer to wear one. We continue to balance our commitment to gathering in community with efforts designed at ensuring our gatherings are not spreading Covid-19. To date, we have yet to have a single case of Covid-19 traced back to one of our gatherings.

Please stay home and join us via Facebook or YouTube Live if anyone in your household is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, or new loss of taste or smell.

Online Options:

Watch the live stream of our Main Auditorium service online. You do not need a Facebook account, you can just click the link below. If Facebook is not an option for you, we also stream on YouTube Live and that link is below as well. Of course, if you miss us live, you can watch the service on our website anytime.

What to Expect

The community at Disciples is authentic, fun, and just a little irreverent.

We’re in the same parking lot as Century 14 in Folsom, across the street from the Folsom Premium Outlets. Once you park, our main door is directly under the giant Disciples Church sign on the building; you can’t miss it! You can expect to be greeted at the door and offered our weekly program.

You’ll find most of us chatting in the lobby, and that the dress is pretty informal; jeans and shirts for most. Our kid check kiosk is on the left after entering. Free coffee(!) can be found opposite the kid check kiosk.

During the service, you can expect loud, upbeat music, followed by 20-minute message that is fun, practical, and centered on Jesus. The 90-minute service usually ends with a couple more songs, after which you can pick up your kiddos or hang with us in the lobby. Or you can race out the door…you wouldn’t hurt our feelings.

Current Series

Current Series: The Moses in Us All

Much has changed in the societal landscape in recent years. Discussions around marriage, gender, women’s rights, and a whole host of other critical issues face our world. The church is no stranger to navigating and leading culture during seasons of great change, and this hour is a critical one. Sadly, when it comes to these issues and others Christians are often known for either acquiescing to cultural shifts or digging in their heels in judgment and ‘leaving the discussions’ of the day altogether. We know the call of Christ is to shine brightly and bring life and goodness to our world. The problems faced by the church in Galatia, and more importantly, how those problems were addressed, give us insight and wisdom for God’s way of demonstrating the beautiful way of Christ in every situation.

Most Sundays we are led by our gifted worship leader, Ellie Spinosi, or our Worship Pastor, Calvin Lamb. Their music is generally a bit on the loud-side, passionate, and sincere. You can check out our Spotify playlist to hear some of the songs you might expect to hear, but in general we sing about God – not ourselves. We sing a lot about His love, His grace, his Glory. We are a a wide mix of people from a wide mix of traditions, so you’ll see some with their hands raised and some stiff as a board. We are low on production, but high on excellence. You will not find smoke machines or fancy lighting schemes – no judgment, it’s just not our thing. We are always introducing new music and have a prayer team on hand during worship for those who want to pray with someone or be prayed for by someone.

For Your Kids

DC Kids is a fun and interactive learning experience for your child. From newborn to elementary school, your kids will learn about Jesus and have a great time.

We use Planning Center Check-Ins for an efficient and safe check-in and check-out experience for you and your family. If it’s your first time with us, you may want to arrive a few minutes prior to the service. It just takes a moment to create an account, and we have volunteers waiting to assist you.

If you didn’t find what you were looking for on this page, the following are some questions we’re often asked by first-timers.

How long is the service?2017-01-15T10:34:28-08:00

Our services generally last about 90-minutes. Of that, the morning sermon typically runs about 25 minutes.

Is coffee available?2017-01-15T10:33:11-08:00

We’ve got fresh, hot coffee ready for you!

How big is the church?2017-01-15T10:27:51-08:00

About 80 families call Disciples Church their “home” church. Each of our two Sunday morning services is generally attended by about 100 people.

What should I wear?2017-01-15T10:32:25-08:00

Our church is generally pretty casual. Most of our fellas wear jeans or shorts and a t-shirt or button-up. Most of our ladies wear everything from shorts to dresses, and t-shirts to blouses. So feel free to wear whatever you want.
